MC ZiLL truly believes there are better ways to improve the constitution. He wants to save taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars while preserving their fundamental rights and protections. It is critical to get his message out to voters in time for the vote on Election Day, Tuesday, 11/7/17.
Say No to the Con Con
On Tuesday, November 7th 2017, New York State voters will be faced with perhaps the most important vote of their lives. They will be asked to vote yes or no on having a NY constitutional convention (con con). The specific ballot question will be: “Shall there be a convention to revise the constitution and amend the same?”
MC ZiLL is once again using his musical passion to express why he believes it's imperative to the future of the state of New York to vote NO on this referendum question! There's no better way to get the message clearly out than a catchy song and an informative music video that supports his argument.
Check out the music video for “Say No to the Con Con” here.
The song was written by MC ZiLL and produced by LK PRO, the publishing company co-owned by him and his songwriting wife, Katie Ann. Recording, mixing, and mastering of the song took place at GCR Audio in Buffalo, NY, by the talented Justin Rose. HipHughes, a viral YouTube producer whose channel receives over 30,000 views a day, created the music video for the project.
Releasing politically and socially conscious songs is a large part of MC ZiLL’s repertoire. His past projects "We're Teaching," "Still Teaching," and "Choose to Refuse," have attracted the attention of multiple and diverse media outlets for his viewpoints on excessive standardized testing and public education philosophies for our children.
His latest project, "Say No to the Con Con," differs from his aforementioned previous releases as it aims to enlighten every NY citizen about the negative consequences of voting yes to a constitutional convention. All NY citizens will be affected by the outcome of this referendum question that takes place next month on Election Day.
Many people don't know that NYS even has a constitution in the first place. Voters need to be educated on what a constitutional convention would present to our citizens and what the financial ramifications would be for taxpayers for voting yes.
In 1967, the last time a Constitutional Convention was held in New York, it cost taxpayers tens of millions of dollars. When factoring in inflation fifty years later, it is estimated to cost taxpayers upwards of $350 million dollars. This is extremely unnecessary! We can change our Constitution through the normal constitutional amendment process AND without spending a single penny from taxpayers’ pockets. In addition, many of our rights and protections that we are guaranteed through our constitution would be in jeopardy. Such items include but are not limited to: cuts to our public schools, colleges, and universities, our rights to free speech and to assemble peacefully, access to state parks, forests, and waterway connections, environmental protections, and economic protections of state debt limits and budget spending caps.

Lyrics to Constitutional Convention Song: "Say No to the Con Con"
By MC ZiLL
INTRO:
On Election Day New Yorkers vote wisely to this question
Shall there be a convention for constitution revisions
Vote no;it’s a $350 million
Dollar bash for the cast of politicians
REFRAIN:
So vote no, no to the Con Con
Vote no, no to the Con Con x3
No convention for constitution revisions
No $350 million dollar bash for politicians
So vote no, no to the Con Con
Vote no, no to the Con Con
Say no to a constitutional convention
Give two thumbs down on this referendum question
So vote no, no to the Con Con
Vote no, no to the Con Con
VERSE:
Say no to a constitutional convention
Such a very unnecessary deception
We don’t need a convention for constitution revisions
No $350 million dollar bash for politicians
Here's an easier concept
Changes citizens want can be made through the normal legislative process
Yes! Already we can change our constitution at will
We draft, discuss, then vote to approve the bill
Voting yes robs
Taxpayers pay delegates two salaries for the same jobs
We don’t need a congress carbon copy
We need to increase the quality of life for everybody
Say no to a constitutional convention
If you snooze you’ll lose this important voting lesson
They will schedule cuts like surgeries
Ruin public schools, colleges, universities
Gather together vote to protect our democracy
Our rights to free speech and to assemble peacefully
Access to state parks, forests, and waterway connections
Let's not lose our environmental protections
Expenses adding fast
Lose the economic protection of state debt limits and budget spending caps
We will not let New York citizens collapse
We'll feel the full effects if we're not full of facts so
REFRAIN:
Vote no, no to the Con Con
Vote no, no to the Con Con
No convention for constitution revisions
No $350 million dollar bash for politicians
On Election Day New Yorkers vote wisely to this question
Shall there be a convention for constitution revisions
Vote no; it’s a $350 million
Dollar bash for the cast of politicians
So vote no, no to the Con Con
No, no to the Con Con x3
Vote no, no to the Con Con
No, no to the Con Con x3
VOTE NO!
